Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains which personal data is processed when you visit serkancura.com (the “Site”), for what purpose and on which legal basis. The Site is a personal blog operated by Serkan Cura, who is the data controller under the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK, Law No. 6698) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. What data do we collect?

  • Server logs: IP address, date/time, requested page, browser and operating system, referring URL. Collected automatically for security and troubleshooting and kept for at most 30 days.
  • Comments: the name, e-mail address, optional website, comment text and IP address you provide when commenting. Your e-mail address is never published. Comments are sent to Akismet (Automattic Inc.) and CleanTalk for spam detection.
  • Contact form and e-mail: your name, e-mail address and message are used only to reply to you; the message is delivered by e-mail through the Jetpack (Automattic) infrastructure.
  • Usage statistics: anonymised page views, sessions and device information via Google Analytics and Jetpack Stats.

The Site does not offer accounts, payments or collect identity documents. We do not knowingly process personal data of children under 16.

3. Purposes and legal bases

  • Secure and uninterrupted operation of the Site, attack and spam detection — legitimate interest (KVKK art. 5/2-f, GDPR art. 6(1)(f)).
  • Answering comments and contact requests — legitimate interest / fulfilling your request.
  • Statistics and advertising cookies — your consent (KVKK art. 5/1, GDPR art. 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw consent at any time through the cookie notice.
  • Compliance with legal obligations (e.g. requests from public authorities) — legal obligation.

4. Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. The Site uses the following categories:

5. Advertising (Google AdSense)

The Site uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this Site or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this and/or other sites on the Internet.

For visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, advertising cookies are set only after consent is given through the cookie notice. Sponsored or advertorial posts are clearly labelled within the post.

6. Third parties we share data with

We never sell your personal data. It is shared only with the service providers below, to the extent required by the respective service:

  • LiteSpeed Technologies / QUIC.cloud — caching and content delivery network (CDN). Privacy policy
  • JotForm Inc. — chat assistant and forms on the Site. Privacy policy
  • Vimeo Inc. — video embeds. Privacy policy

Some of these providers operate servers outside Türkiye and the EU; transfers rely on the provider’s standard contractual clauses and KVKK art. 9. Where legally required, data may be disclosed to competent public authorities.

7. Retention

  • Server logs: at most 30 days.
  • Comments: as long as they are published; you may request deletion.
  • Contact messages: at most 1 year after a reply is sent.
  • Analytics data: 14 months in Google Analytics, then deleted automatically.

8. Your rights

Under KVKK art. 11 and GDPR arts. 15–22 you have the right to learn whether your personal data is processed, to request information, rectification or erasure, to object to processing, to data portability and to withdraw consent. You may also lodge a complaint with the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority or the supervisory authority in your country.
