About

Hi, I’m Serkan Cura — a software test automation engineer based in Türkiye. I’ve been working in software quality since 2012 and writing on this blog since 2008, mostly about testing, automation, tooling and whatever technology I happen to be exploring at the time.

Since December 2022 I lead the Test Automation team at Jotform, where we own web, API and mobile test automation. Before that I was a Senior QA Automation Engineer at Getir (2021–2022), a QA Automation Engineer and mentor at Intertech (2018–2021), a Software Test Engineer in the Quality Assurance unit of Digiturk / beIN (2015–2018), and a business/system analyst and tester at Nilaccra and pRestij Software (2012–2015).

My interest in computers started at the hardware department of a technical high school in Bursa, continued through a computer programming degree at Uludağ University and a bachelor’s in Computer Systems Education at Selçuk University (2009), where I also served as vice-president of the IT student society and as a Sun Microsystems campus leader.

What you’ll find here

The English section of this blog focuses on practical software testing topics: test automation with Playwright and similar tools, flaky-test diagnosis, test data management, CI pipelines and QA team practices. The Turkish section goes back to 2008 and covers a much wider range — from early smartphone reviews to SQL Server notes and personal posts.

Community and hobbies

Over the years I’ve founded or co-founded a few communities and small sites (Forumsevdam, Technolojist, Yazdık.ca, phootogram.com), edited for DMOZ, organised Likemind and Foursquare meet-ups in Bursa and served on the board of the İstanbul Travellers Association. Off the keyboard I’m a beginner aquarist, an amateur radio operator, an amateur sailor and a fairly new angler — and I take a lot of photos.

I’m always open to collaboration. The easiest way to reach me is the contact page.
